Accept Russian passports in order to “survive”, – advised the Commissioner for Human Rights of Ukraine to its citizens living in regions occupied by Russia, Sky News reports.
Dmytro Lubinet warned Ukrainians that Russia would exert “physical pressure” on them to accept this document, reports Ukrinform.
Last week, Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing the deportation of Ukrainians from the occupied territories who refused to obtain a Russian passport by July 1, Liga.net reports.
“I think that all Ukrainian citizens who refuse their Russian passport will simply be arrested,” Lubinets told Ukrinform.
He noted that he is “categorically against” proposals that the Ukrainian authorities punish citizens who accept a passport, and added that the most important thing is to survive.
