A South Korean student ate a banana that was part of an exhibition by artist Mauricio Cattelan, saying he was “just really hungry.”
Titled “The Comedian”, part of Cattelan’s “WE” exhibition, the work consisted of a ripe banana taped to a wall at the Leum Art Museum in Seoul. After eating the banana, the student glued the peel to the wall. The museum later placed a new banana in the same spot, local media reported.
The Leum Art Museum did not respond to a BBC email request. However, he told the media that he would not seek compensation from the student.
The exposed banana is reported to be replaced every two or three days.
