The Russian armed forces have announced that they have trained soldiers from Belarus in the use of tactical nuclear weapons ahead of their planned deployment in the neighboring country.
The Russian Ministry of Defense released a video that allegedly shows the exercise in the center of southern Belarus. In the video you can see the Iskander-M missile system. These missiles can carry nuclear warheads.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has defended the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus in response to NATO expansion, which recently admitted Finland as the 31st member of the military alliance.
According to sources in the Russian Defense Ministry, weapons training began on April 3 based on Putin’s statement. Belarusian servicemen studied in detail the issues of storage and use of explosive devices for rockets. A test launch of the rocket also took place, as can be seen on the video.
