A Ukrainian journalist working for the Italian newspaper La Repubblica was killed by sniper fire in southern Ukraine and his Italian colleague was wounded.
“Our correspondent Korando Tsunino and his partner Bogdan Bitik were ambushed by Russian snipers today on the outskirts of Kherson in southern Ukraine. Unfortunately, Bogdan Bitik did not survive: he left behind a wife and son. Korando, who was wounded in the shoulder, is being treated in Kherson“, the newspaper said.

The two journalists who had been covering the war since the beginning of the Russian invasion were wearing bulletproof vests with the word “Press” written on them. They were near the main bridge of Kherson when they were attacked.
“We hit. I saw Bogdan on the ground, he didn’t move. I tried to call him, he didn’t answer. Then I jumped to my feet to get out of the line of fire and ran until I saw a civilian car. I was bleeding, I was taken to the hospital,” the Italian reporter said.
According to the publication, the body of the Ukrainian journalist has not yet been found due to the presence of snipers in the area.
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said that the Italian embassy in Kyiv will organize the return of Corrado Cunino to Italy.
