
Sweden expels five Russian diplomats– said the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden. Tobias Billstromin an interview with the public television channel SVT.
“Sweden called the Russian ambassador and informed him that five embassy employees were asked to leave the country due to actions inconsistent with the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations,” Billstrom said, according to SVT.
According to Reuters, the Russian embassy in Sweden declined to comment on what was happening.
Russia and Western countries have been involved in exile since Moscow launched its invasion of Ukraine last February.
Concerns have risen in countries such as Sweden about the activities of Russian intelligence agencies, with the Swedish security service singling out Russia as a serious threat to the security of the Scandinavian country.
Earlier this month Norway said he was deporting 15 employees of the Russian Embassy who the State Department said were intelligence officers operating under diplomatic cover.
