
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree allowing Moscow to temporarily take control of foreign assets if Russian assets abroad are seized, TASS news agency reported on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
A copy of the decree signed by President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday showed that Moscow took temporary control of the Russian unit of UN01.DE Uniper SE and the Russian assets of Finnish company Fortum Oyj FORTUM.HE.
The European Commission (EC) is working on a legal framework for seizing frozen Russian assets – following sanctions imposed on Russia after it attacked Ukraine a year ago – and using those funds to rebuild Ukraine.
