Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the OPEC+ agreement to cut oil production today during a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the Kremlin said.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the level of cooperation between the two countries to achieve stability in the global oil market, the Kremlin said.
“The conversation developed in a friendly atmosphere, was constructive and informative. It was agreed to develop contacts in specific areas of cooperation,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and its key partner Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil producer, formed an alliance known as OPEC+ in 2016 with other major oil producers, led by Russia, to closely interact in the oil market.
Earlier this month, OPEC+ unexpectedly announced a further cut in oil production by about 1.16 million barrels per day.
