President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky he inspected the border with Belarus and Poland and thanked the border guards who have been protecting the country since the beginning of the Russian invasion.

The president posted on messaging app Telegram a video of him meeting with border guards in a wooded area surrounded by barbed wire next to a river in the Volyn region in northwestern Ukraine.

“It is a great honor for me to be here today to thank the border guards guarding the borders of the state,” he wrote under the video, which also shows him addressing the border guards and presenting them with a medal.

“To protect our state in Bahamut. I know how tight you stood holding Bahamut.he said, referring to a city in eastern Ukraine where fierce fighting has been going on between Russian and Ukrainian forces for months.

Zelensky said after discussing border security measures at a meeting in January that Ukraine should “stand by” on the border with Belarus, although Kyiv sees “nothing strong” there, other than statements.

OUR Russia used Belarus as a base for its full-scale invasion of Ukraine last February, and President Vladimir Putin said last month that Russia would regularly deploy nuclear weapons on the territory of its direct ally.

Today, in a separate post, Zelensky said that he had discussed security and socio-economic issues with political and military leaders in the Volyn region.

Zelensky has traveled to different regions in recent weeks. On Tuesday, he met with Ukrainian soldiers in the eastern Ukrainian city of Avdiivka, where fighting also continues as Ukraine prepares for an expected counteroffensive to try to retake Russian-held territory.
