Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to attend a military command meeting in Kherson region in southern Ukraine, which is partially controlled by Russia, the Kremlin said on Tuesday, Reuters reported.
Putin received reports from the commanders of the Air Force and the Dnipro armed group, as well as other senior officers, who were supposed to brief him on the situation in the regions of Kherson Oblast and Zaporizhzhia, both of which Moscow has. declared part of Russia.
Russian troops withdrew from Kherson, the capital of the region, last November, entrenching their positions on the opposite bank of the Dnieper, awaiting a Ukrainian counteroffensive.
Putin also reportedly visited National Guard headquarters in eastern Ukraine’s Luhansk region, another part of Ukraine annexed by Moscow last year.
At a meeting at the Dnipro headquarters, Putin inquired about the details of the situation in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, asking them to exchange information, reports the official RIA.
However, the Kremlin did not specify when Putin will come to the meeting of the military command, Reuters also writes.
Putin last visited the Russian-controlled regions of Ukraine on March 19, when he visited Mariupol, a port city devastated by Russian bombing.
