Addressing the crowd gathered in St. Peter’s Square, Pope Francis wished a “Happy Easter” to all Orthodox who today celebrate the Resurrection of the God-man.
In particular, Francis emphasized: “I want to express my closeness to all brothers and sisters who, especially in the East, celebrate Easter today. May the risen Lord be with you and fill you with His Holy Spirit, Happy Easter to all of you.”
The pontiff then added: “Today the Russian and Ukrainian brothers are celebrating Easter. May the Lord be with them and help them achieve peace.”
