On April 5, Polish President Andrzej Duda, during the visit of his Ukrainian colleague Volodymyr Zelenskyi to Warsaw, said that Poland is ready to supply Kiev with its entire fleet of Soviet-style MiG-29 fighter jets “in the future”. about 30 devices.

That delivery could be made “subject to an agreement with its allies” in NATO, he said.

Warsaw had to get Berlin’s permission to re-export these five planes, as they previously belonged to East Germany.

In a statement, the German Ministry of Defense said: “The government does not know whether there will be further requests from the Polish government to authorize the delivery of other aircraft that still need to be adapted to current standards, no.”

Slovakia and Poland began supplying Kiev with Soviet-designed MiG-29 fighter jets in late March and early April, respectively.

No modern Western aircraft, as requested by Kyiv, have yet been delivered, although several Western countries, such as Denmark, have made proposals in this direction.
