Alexei Navalny, the leader of the Russian opposition, is suffering from a mysterious illness in prison that could be some sort of poisoning, having lost 8 kg in just two weeks, according to his press secretary, Kira Yarmish.
“We do not rule out that Alexei Navalny is currently suffering from slow poisoning,” Jarmis wrote on Twitter. “He is being held in a cell in acute pain without medical attention,” he said.
Jarmis said emergency services were called to a prison about 250 kilometers (115 miles) east of Moscow on Friday night due to Navalny’s mysterious illness.
