Eva Kylie: got out of prison with a “bracelet”

OUR Eva Kylie released on parole. After more than four months in prison, a Greek MEP is being placed under house arrest with an electronic “bracelet” for surveillance, her lawyer Sven Meri confirmed to Euronews.

β€œI will not comment on anything other than the fact that this is a logical decision that is long overdue,” Mary said.

The information was also confirmed by the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office. β€œThe decision came as a surprise as it was announced the day before she was due to appear in court on Thursday morning,” comments Euronews.

Chronicles

Eva Kylie was arrested on December 11 on charges of the Qatargate corruption scandal that rocked the European Parliament. In the same case, her partner Francesco Giorgi was also arrested, who was released with a “bracelet” from the end of February. Now the same condition will apply to it.

Kylie was allegedly caught red-handed, and therefore her parliamentary immunity did not apply. She has been charged with corruption, money laundering and participation in a criminal organization.

On December 13 last year, the head of the Authority, Charalambos Vourliotis, issued a general order freeze all assets of the MEP in Greece, as well as her husband or immediate family (parents, brothers and sisters).

Eva Kaili was the first to be arrested for Qatargate when authorities uncovered an investigation into bribing non-EU MEPs Qatar and Morocco. Both countries denied their involvement.

Belgian police seized more than 1.5 million euros in cash during searches of Eva Kylie’s home and office.

After the revelation of the scandal, Eva Kylie was removed from the post of Vice President of the European Parliament and expelled from PASOK-KINAL. According to Euronews, the 44-year-old MEP is still entitled to a monthly salary of 7,146 euros.

The Greek MEP is one of five people arrested by Belgian authorities, along with his partner Francesco Giorgi, former MEP Pierre Antonio Pancheri, NGO director Nicolas Figa Talamanca and Belgian MEP Marc Tarabella.

Pancheri’s agreement with the authorities

The alleged “mastermind” of the gang, former Italian MEP Pier Antonio Panzeri, reached a cooperation agreement with the authorities.
