Kremlin on Taiwan: China has every right to respond to “provocations”

Kremlin said today that there is a general tendency to always blame Russia for everyone, answering a question about allegations that Moscow may be behind a major leak of intelligence documents USA for some countries including Ukrainian.

The US intelligence community is trying to deal with the aftermath of the leak of dozens of classified documents covering both the activities of government agencies and relations with other countries.

The documents, which have not been independently authenticated by Reuters, contain information about the war in Ukraine, including casualties on both sides and other details.

National security experts and US officials say they suspect the source of the leak could be American, given the volume of documents, but do not rule out Russian involvement.

The former CIA official said it was highly likely that the leak was orchestrated by Moscow to cause confusion and a possible split between Washington and its allies.

“Russia is to blame for everything”

When asked about the accusations that Russia may be to blame, Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “I can’t comment on this in any way. You and I know that there really is a tendency to always blame Russia for everything. Basically, it’s a disease.”

Asked about the possibility that Washington was spying on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Peskov, who called the leaks “very interesting,” said it could not be ruled out.

“But the fact that the United States has long been spying on various heads of state, especially in European capitals, has come up repeatedly, causing various scandalous situations,” he said.

“Beijing’s right to respond to provocations”

The Kremlin spokesman also said that China has every right to respond to what he called repeated “provocations” against him and conduct military exercises around Taiwan.

In a video conference with reporters, Dmitry Peskov said that everyone should respect China and its actions in accordance with international law.

“In a very short period of time, we have repeatedly witnessed actions that were provocative in nature against the People’s Republic of China,” the Kremlin spokesman said.

“And, of course, China has the sovereign right to respond to these provocative actions, including conducting military exercises in strict accordance with international law,” he said.

Peskov also hinted that France, whose president visited China for talks last week, cannot play a mediating role in achieving peace in Ukraine, since Paris is “indirectly and directly involved in this conflict on the side of Ukraine.” Therefore, it is difficult to imagine any mediation efforts here.”
