Nicosia will provide Ukraine with technical training in demining as part of its humanitarian aid, the Cypriot defense minister said on Friday.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov, who is on a visit to Cyprus on Friday, is due to visit the areas where the exercises will take place.
“We will have personnel who will deal with demining and detecting mines,” Cypriot minister Michalis Giorgallas told Sigma TV.
A group of about 18 Ukrainian officers will arrive in Cyprus for training in the last week of April, according to the Politis newspaper, which first reported the case.
This move by the new government of Cyprus, which is only five weeks old, is estimated to provide a new model for describing the intentions of President Nikos Christodoulidis.
