It will be a year since France held presidential elections in April 2022. It is recalled that Emmanuel Macron was re-elected to the presidency on April 24, 2022, with 58.55% of the vote against Marine Le Pen (41.45%). Twelve months later, amid the ongoing pension reform crisis, trends in the country appear to have reversed.
According to a new poll (Elabe/BFM TV), if the country were to hold a presidential election today, Marine Le Pen would take first place with 55% of the vote.
Far-right Marine Le Pen is (poll) the big winner in tensions over a proposed increase in the retirement age from 62 to 64 by current counts, but this is not the case with far-left exodus Jean-Luc Mélenchon, whose interest do not increase, but, on the contrary, decrease according to polls (Elabe/BFM TV, Ifop-Fiducial).
However, the country’s next presidential election is scheduled for 2027, which means it’s still too early for reliable predictions.
