A nude photo on top of a holy mountain that went viral on social media led to the expulsion of a Russian tourist from Balibut also a public confrontation over the behavior of visitors to the island.

The 24-year-old Russian, identified by Bali immigration as Yury Chilikin, was deported last Tuesday to Moscow via Dubai, the statement said.

In photographs released by local authorities, Chilikin, with a backpack on his back and a cup of coffee in his hand, is escorted by authorities at Ngurah Rai International Airport.

“Please enjoy Bali by following the rules. If you violate them, we will take strict measures without hesitation,” an immigration official said, adding that Chilikin was banned from entering Indonesia for at least six months.

The inhabitants of the island, mostly Hindus, believe that the mountain represents the god Shivatherefore, permission is required for anyone who decides to walk on it.

The Russian’s “disrespectful” behavior and the reaction it caused prompted him to upload a photo from his account, replacing his video. remorse and apology.

“There is no excuse for my actions. The only thing that led to what happened was my personal ignorance. Agung is a sacred symbol of the people of Bali. After studying the culture and religion of the island, I realized my mistake,” he says, among other things.
