President of Russia Vladimir Putin – he emphasized, addressing the US Ambassador Lynn Tracy during the ceremony of presenting credentials of ambassadors of foreign states, held in the Kremlin, that US support for the revolution in Ukraine in 2014 led to the current situation in which Russia and Ukraine are in conflict.
The Russian President also said that relations with Washington are in deep crisis due to “structurally different approaches to the formation of the modern world order.”
Speaking to Ambassador Lynn Tracy, Putin characteristically remarked: “I know you may disagree, but I can only say that US support for revolutions, such as the 2014 Kiev ‘coup’, led to the current Ukrainian crisis.”
Putin’s position was similar to that of the new EU ambassador, Roland Galaraga, to whom he told that “the European Union was the one who started the geopolitical confrontation with Russia.”
The Russian President also called on Denmark to support Russia’s proposal to set up an independent international commission to investigate the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipeline.
In his opening remarks, Putin said that Russia is open to constructive cooperation with any country and does not intend to isolate itself “despite difficult geopolitical events.”
