Russian drones struck Ukraine’s Black Sea port of Odessa and caused damage, local authorities said early Tuesday, AFP reported.
“The enemy has just struck Odesa and the Odesa district with a UAV,” the local administration said in a message posted on Facebook. “There is damage,” he added, without giving further details.
With reference to the head of the military administration of the Odesa region, Yury Kruk, the statement refers to the measures taken by the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine and warns of the possibility of a second wave of shelling.
Odesa was a favorite vacation spot for many Ukrainians and Russians before the invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In January 2023, UNESCO included the historical center of Odesa in the list of endangered world heritage.
Since the beginning of the conflict, Odesa has repeatedly been bombarded by Russian troops.
