Finland: Center-right Orpo wins elections – far-right record holder

Leader of the right opposition party National Alliance of Finland (NCP), Petri Orpo, became the winner of the elections in Finland.

“We have received the biggest mandate,” he said in an address to his supporters, adding that he would negotiate the formation of a coalition government.

Prime Minister Sanna Marin of the Social Democrats admitted her party’s defeat. “I am very grateful to the people who voted massively for the Social Democrats,” she said to her opponents on the set of the Yle channel.
