The Catholic Palm Sunday service ended recently in the Vatican. The religious ceremony was led by Pope Francis, who was discharged from the Gemelli Hospital in Rome yesterday.

The pontiff, still a little overworked, thanked those who prayed for his health. “Thank you for your support and prayers that have intensified over the past few days. I thank the inhabitants of Rome and the pilgrims,” said the head of the Roman Catholic Church. This morning in St. Peter’s Square, the number of believers exceeded 60,000 people.

“We must be closer to the despised, to all the abandoned,” said Francis, who blessed the faithful across the square from a vehicle known as the “Papa Mobile.”

“A week ago, under the colonnade of this square, a German homeless man died, lonely and abandoned. For each of us, that person is Jesus. So many people who need us, so many abandoned. I, too, need the caress of Jesus to feel his closeness to me. For this reason, I visit him and look for him among the abandoned, among those who have no one, ”the message of the Pope says.

Catholic Holy Week starts tomorrow. As it became known, on Thursday, Francis will go to the ceremony of the laver in the Roman juvenile prison of Casal del Marmo. This is exactly the same choice he made 10 years ago, shortly after his election to the Clave.

On Friday, the pontiff will lead the Via Crucis in the Colosseum, which depicts the martyrdom of Jesus to Calvary.
