
Four people, including a foreign tourist, died today under avalanches in the north NorwayThis is reported by the local police.
Five members of a group of foreign tourists were swept away by an avalanche near Kavrigtiden, a mountain peak in the far north of Norway, killing one and injuring two.
Lingen Mayor Da-Havard Johnsen said the tourists had come to the area from Italy.
Tromsø police spokesman Morten Petersen said two more people died later when an avalanche washed away a house and warehouse and threw them into the sea on Reinoha Island. At the time of the accident, there were 140 goats in the warehouse.
Police said late in the evening that a fourth person had died in an avalanche in the Nordreys region. “This person was part of a group of foreign tourists. Another member of this group noticed (the victim) and informed the rescuers,” the police said, without specifying the nationality of the man.
