
Dozens of migrants have died horribly in Mexico: a fire at a migrant center in Ciudad Juarez has claimed the lives of at least 37 people, and the death toll is rising.
A fire broke out at Mexico’s National Migration Institute in the city of Ciudad Juarez early Tuesday morning local time, according to a statement from the state of Chihuahua.
The statement added that the fire broke out after the transfer of about 70 migrants who were removed from the streets of the Mexican city. According to local press reports, people of mostly Venezuelan origin, as well as representatives of other nationalities, begging on the streets, were removed.
The number of people injured in the fire is not yet known, but it is expected to be large.
No information has yet been received from the federal government.
