On Tuesday, the Ukrainian military released the first video of the Challenger 2 tanks received from Britain, and Kyiv’s defense minister said that they will soon be put into battle.

β€œIt was nice to destroy the first Challenger 2 main battle tank in one turn. Such tanks, supplied by Great Britain, recently arrived in our country. These fantastic machines will soon start performing combat missions,” Minister Oleksiy Reznikov wrote on his Twitter page.

Reznikov once again thanked Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, his London colleague Ben Wallace and the British people.

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine also announced the arrival of these combat vehicles in Ukraine on Monday night. Ukrainian tankers have undergone training in Great Britain to drive combat vehicles, and delivery is made after completion of training.

“Just a year ago, no one could have thought that the support of our partners would be so strong. That the entire civilized world will reboot and finally resist the bloody aggressor, the terrorist country of Russia,” he emphasized.

What other combat vehicles did Ukraine receive on Monday

Reznikov stated that in addition to Challenger 2 tanks, Ukraine received Strykers infantry fighting vehicles and Cougars anti-mine infantry fighting vehicles from the USA, and Marders (infantry fighting vehicles) from Germany.

The Ukrainian minister added that “the new equipment will be a good company for its “brothers” on the battlefield.”

Chancellor Olaf Scholz reported that Germany has also supplied Ukraine with German Leopard 2 tanks, which are so desired by the military leadership of Kyiv.

“Yes, we have delivered the Leopard tanks as we announced,” Scholz said during a joint news conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Rotterdam on Monday.

The arrival of the Leopard 2 tanks came after months of debate. German officials have been hesitant to send tanks to Ukraine, saying they are waiting for the U.S. to send its own M1 Abrams to Kyiv.

Poland handed over the promised Leopard 2 tanks to Kyiv at the beginning of March.
