Yesterday, Sunday, a security guard was killed in a Kalashnikov assault on Top Channel, Albania’s largest private television station, police said.
The shooting was carried out from Kalashnikov assault rifles when the attackers were driving in a car in front of the TV company building, as a result of which a security guard was killed.
“People, whose identity has not yet been established, opened fire in the direction of the Upper Canal building,” the police said in a statement.
Prime Minister Edi Rama condemned the “criminal attack” and expressed “solidarity” with the station workers. The attack was also condemned by all political parties.
At the time of the attack, which took place around 01:00 (02:00 Greek time), the guard was in a glass sentinel in the courtyard of the building.
The station in question employs hundreds of workers, and many of them were inside the building at the time of the attack.
