Promotion again to the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan a poll cited by Turkish newspaper Hurriyet on Friday contradicts most polls immediately after Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu became the candidate of six opposition parties.
With presidential and parliamentary elections in Turkey now, seven weeks later, most opinion polls over the past few days show that the Kemalist candidate not only confidently defeats the Islamist president, but also has the tacit support of Kurdish voters, given the failure of the HDP in the presidential election with his own candidate.
However, a report by columnist Abdulkadir Selvi in the typically secular newspaper Hurriyet (branded by Kemal) on Friday cites a poll by Optimar in which Erdoğan receives 47.4% support, compared to the 45.3% favored by Mr. Kılıçdaroğlu. The so-called regulator Muarem Ince is preferred by 6.5%.
The poll was reportedly conducted between 13 and 18 March among nearly 2,000 voters in Turkey by a company that, according to a Turkish observer, failed both in the 2014 and 2018 elections and in a 2017 referendum when the results were in favor of ruling Justice Party. Development (AKP).
It is reported that the same party is now in the lead in preferences in the parliamentary elections, which will also be held on May 14. According to Optimar, Erdoğan’s faction receives 38.4% of preference compared to 25.9% of the Kılıçdaroğlu Party (CHP), while the pro-Kurdish HDP receives 9.5% and the Good Party (Iyi) 7.8%.
The ultra-nationalist MİP, that is, the party of Erdogan’s government partner Devlet Bahceli, is limited to fifth place with a percentage of 7.7%.
