According to the EODY epidemiological report, 75 deaths from coronavirus were recorded between March 13 and March 19, and the number of intubated decreased to 71.

In particular, the number of new intubations with Covid-19 showed a decrease compared to the previous week and a decrease of 36% compared to the weekly average number of new intubations during the previous 4 weeks.

For influenza, a community positive result showed an increase in sentinel samples. However, no new serious cases with ICU admissions have been reported, and no new influenza deaths have been reported.

Summing up the week 11/2023:

SARS-CoV2 virus – Covid-19 infection

✓ Number of hospitalizations for Covid-19 showed a decrease compared to the previous week and a decrease of 23% compared to the average weekly number of new hospitalizations in the previous 4 weeks
✓ the number of new intubations decreased compared to the previous week and decreased by 36% compared to the average weekly number of new intubations during the previous 4 weeks)
✓ Number of patients with Covid-19 infection hospitalized with intubation is 71
✓ Registered 75 deaths with a mean age of 84 years (range 55-100 years)
✓ during weeks 09-10/2023 all sequenced strains belonged to Omicron BA.2 and BA.5 subvariants
✓ BA.2 detection rate increased and reached 63% of all sequenced samples
✓ BQ.1.1 sub-option was the most common BA.5 sub-option (84%).
✓ The most common BA.2 sub-option was XBB.1.5 (39%), followed by BA.2.75 sub-option (24%) and XBB sub-option (21%)
✓ Viral load surveillance in urban wastewater showed a decrease in SARSCoV2 virus circulation in 8 out of 10 areas tested

✓ Flu positive in the community showed an increase in sentinel samples
✓ No new severe cases of laboratory-confirmed influenza with ICU hospitalization, and no new deaths from laboratory-confirmed influenza
✓ From week 40, 2022 to week 11, 2023, 65 people with influenza were admitted to the intensive care unit and 22 deaths were recorded.
✓ During the same period, 313 positive influenza samples (sentinel samples and hospital samples) were registered at two influenza reference centers, of which 281 (90%) were type A strains and 32 (10%) were type B strains.
✓ Of the 279 subtyped type A strains, 256 (92%) were assigned to the A(H3N2) subtype and 23 (8%) to the A(H1N1)pdm09 subtype
✓ over the past three weeks, an excess of influenza type B virus has been recorded

Respiratory syncytial virus – RSV

✓ positive remained at the same low level
