In Poland, the heir to the British throne, Prince William

The heir to the British throne unexpectedly visits Poland. Prince William met British and Ukrainian soldiers, whom he thanked amid the ongoing Russian invasion, before standing next to Ukrainian refugees and listening to their dramatic war stories.

Prince William traveled to Rzeszow in southern Poland to meet Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak and speak with members of the British and Polish armed forces stationed in the area.

The presence of British military forces in Poland is part of the deployment of NATO forces on the eastern flank of the North Atlantic Alliance after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The visit of the heir to the British throne was not reported, and, as expected, the Polish authorities took draconian security measures.

“I am here because I want to personally thank the Polish and British soldiers who are working closely together,” said Prince William. Emphasizing that the humanity shown by the Polish people in the Ukrainian drama about refugees is a source of inspiration, the heir to the British throne emphasized: “You opened your hearts and your homes.”

Prince William’s next stop is Warsaw, where he will visit a shelter for about 300 women and children from Ukraine. Tomorrow Thursday, he will lay a wreath at the monument to the Unknown Soldier, as Queen Elizabeth II of Great Britain did during her visit to the Polish capital in 1996, and then meet with Polish President Andrzej Duda.
