Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates considers the OpenAI GPT artificial intelligence model to be the most revolutionary technological advance since the first graphical user interface (GUI) appeared on the computer in 1980. Prior to this, computer users typed commands on the keyboard.

Gates now compares this technological development to OpenAI’s GPT models, which can write text that resembles human speech and generate lines of code for computers.

As he wrote on his blog on Tuesday, Last year, he challenged the OpenAI team to develop an AI model that could pass advanced biology exams.. GPT-4, launched last week, scored the highest score, according to OpenAI.

“The whole experience was amazing,” Gates wrote. “I knew I had just witnessed the most significant advancement in technology since the GUI.”
