
Three people have died in a fire that broke out this morning in an apartment building in the municipality of Rubi, near Barcelona.
Powerful fire protection forces in 11 vehicles drove to the scene and freed dozens of people.
Rescuers provided first aid to 23 people. At least five of them developed breathing problems due to the thick smoke.
The victims were residents of apartments on the ground floor and are believed to have lost consciousness while trying to leave the burning building.
According to the testimonies of residents, transmitted by the Radio Ruby radio station, a strong explosion was heard before the fire started.
The exact cause of the fire remains unclear.
