The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine said on Monday that Russian Kalibr cruise missiles were destroyed in an explosion at Geankoy in occupied Crimea during rail transit.
“As a result of an explosion in the city of Geankoy in the north of the temporarily occupied Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Russian cruise missiles “Caliber-KN” were destroyed during transportation by railway,” – says the message of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the agency.
According to him, the missiles, designed to be launched from surface ships of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, have a range of more than 2,500 kilometers on land and 375 kilometers at sea.
Igor Ivin, the head of the Russian-appointed administration of Geankoy, said that the city was attacked by drones, and a 33-year-old man received a shrapnel wound from a downed drone. He was hospitalized and is expected to survive.
As Ivin told the TASS “Krim-24” TV channel, a residential building, a school and a shop were on fire, and the power grid was damaged.
Separately, Serhiy Asyonov, Russia’s appointed chief of staff on the annexed peninsula, said air defense systems had been activated in the area and at least one person had been injured after debris damaged a house and shop in Geankoy.
