Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba told the BBC on Friday that Ukraine will “take into account” countries that “misbehaved” with it after Russia’s invasion as it builds new relations after the end of the war, EFE reports.
In a wide-ranging interview broadcast on British public television, Ukraine’s foreign minister said the choices each country made after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “will be taken into account when building future relations.”
“If anyone in this world thinks that the way this or that country behaved or behaved with Ukraine in the darkest moments of its history will not be taken into account when building future relations, then these people simply do not know how diplomacy works,” he warned. . .
In this regard, Kuleba emphasized that “war is a moment of choice. And every choice will be taken into account.”
Ukraine received military and economic support from Western countries after the Russian invasion, but other countries in Africa, Asia and South America stayed away for various reasons, such as concern about the economic cost of the conflict or their historical sympathies for Russia.
Delays in arms delivery cost lives
In addition, Kuleba warned that delays in the supply of weapons from Western countries cost human lives: “We want the allies to act faster. If the delivery (of weapons) is delayed for a day, it means that someone will die at the front. This means that the one who could stay alive will die,” he said.
Kuleba also noted that there were no signs from Russia that it wanted to negotiate with Ukraine to end the conflict, but noted that “any war ends at the negotiating table,” although his “goal” as a minister is to “ensure for Ukraine to start negotiations after victory at the front.”
In the BBC interview, Kuleba also touched on other topics, such as China’s role in the conflict and his disappointment that Pope Francis has not visited his country since the conflict began.
“We deeply regret that the Pope has not found an opportunity to visit Ukraine since the beginning of the war,” he said.
Addressing China, Kuleba said that although Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi is ready to hold a phone conversation with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, who is scheduled to visit Moscow next week, he does not believe that the Chinese president “has yet reached the point where he is ready to arm Russia.” (Agerpress)
