Kremlin: Putin’s participation in the G20 summit in India is possible

Kremlin announced today that he does not exclude the participation of the President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the top G20 which will take place on September 9th and 10th. New Delhi.

Putin has not traveled outside the former Soviet Union since last February, when he sent military forces to Ukraine, and he has not traveled to Bali, Indonesia, in November, where the last G20 leaders’ summit was held.

Asked if Putin could attend the meeting in New Delhi, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “He cannot be ruled out. Russia continues to fully participate in the G20. He intends to continue to do so, but a decision has not yet been made.”

Meeting with Xi in Moscow next week

At the same time, it is noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to visit Russia to meet with Vladimir Putin in the near future, even next week, a source familiar with the matter said.

The visit comes at a time when China appears poised to broker an end to the war in Ukraine, an effort the West is skeptical of.

Russian news agency TASS reported on January 30 that Putin had invited Xi to visit his country in the spring. The American Wall Street Journal reported in February that the Chinese President would visit Moscow in April or early May.
