
Ten people were killed and five injured in an attack on a bar in Mexico, authorities said on Sunday.
On Saturday at 23:00 (local time; 07:00 Sunday Greek time), a group of militants broke in and began shooting at patrons and workers at a bar on the road connecting the cities of Celaya and Querétaro in the state of Guanajuato. (center).
Eight people, two women and six men, were killed on the spot, seven more were injured, their identities could not be immediately established, the state prosecutor’s office said in an official report.
A few hours later, the municipal authorities of Apaseo el Grande announced that two of the wounded had died in the public hospital in Celaya. It was about the 23-year-old and 16-year-old age.
According to official figures, the remaining five victims were hospitalized in serious condition.
According to a press release, the Guanajuato state government is working with prosecutors to “identify” and arrest those responsible for the massacre while it “is in contact with the families” of the victims.
Guanajuato, an industrialized state with a booming economy, is among those facing the most pressing crime problems due to the showdown between two drug cartels, the Santa Rosa de Lima gangs and the Jalisco New Generation: they have faced extremist violence for the dominance in the region of such illegal activities as drug trafficking and fuel theft.
