Her government Georgia Meloni today reiterated the need for European solidarity and joint management of immigration. In a statement, the Government of Rome stressed that “after the tragic shipwreck that occurred in Cutro, Calabria, on February 26, the general commitment to provide a proper European response to the complex issue of migration makes it all the more urgent to implement what was decided at the European meeting in February.”
“As emphasized by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, concrete measures must be implemented to intensify external action, increase cooperation in matters of repatriation and readmission, control of the external borders of the EU and combat human trafficking, using from the European Union all the necessary policies and means” , added the Italian government.
