
Historical Greek Orthodox Church seven hundred years old in the Turkish province of Altinoso, was demolished because of this deadly earthquake dated 6 February.
According to the Turkish news agency Anadolu, the roof collapsed, the walls of the church collapsed, and the only thing that remained intact was the bell tower.
“We renovated the church three years ago. We really put a lot of effort into this,” said Ibrahim Tilingir, vice president of the church foundation, adding that after the restoration work, all worship services were held in it.

“It really was a beautiful church worth seeing and has been standing since it was built. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by an earthquake,” he said.
“The destruction of the church upset the people. I wish that we rebuild this church together with the state,” he concluded, calling on the Turkish authorities to provide assistance in restoring the historic building.
