Russia said today that it launched “massive” missile strikes on Ukraine “in retaliation” for an invasion of its territory last week, which it blamed on Kyiv “saboteurs”.
“In response to the terrorist acts of the Kyiv regime in the Bryansk region on March 2, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation launched massive strikes,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Moscow said it had hit Ukrainian defense plants and other “military infrastructure,” including with the help of Kinzhal hypersonic missiles.
The Russian side claims to have destroyed unmanned aerial vehicle bases and munitions production facilities, as well as hit structures carrying foreign arms shipments that are sent through Ukraine by train.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that infrastructure and apartment buildings in 10 regions were affected. “The occupiers can simply terrorize civilians,” he said in a statement.
