The government of Latvia has decided to hand over eight cars seized in the country from drunken drivers to Ukraine, reports “Ukrainian Pravda”.
The cars will be handed over to the military units of the Ministry of Defense in Kyiv, the Vinnytsia Regional Clinical Hospital and the territorial medical association in Kupyansk.
Latvian Finance Minister Arvil Asheradens noted that the legislative changes that made this possible were achieved in less than a month, and thanked the Treasury, the Parliamentary Defense Committee and the Ministry of the Interior for their speed.
Riga deputies unanimously supported the government’s proposal to support the civilian population of Ukraine submitted to the parliament.
The law states that confiscated cars can be handed over to the Ukrainian government in the event of a war-related emergency and to support Ukrainian society.
Another less common aid to Ukraine was announced by neighboring Estonia in December, when the government in Tallinn announced it would send a mobile sauna to the Ukrainian military.
