United States are aware of the “heartbreaking” footage of an unarmed Ukrainian soldier killed in Ukraineaccording to a video posted on social media, said on Tuesday State Departmentadding that Russia should be ashamed of its violation of the basic rules of warfare.

State Department spokesman Ned Price told a regular press briefing that the US was “not naive” in believing Russia would acknowledge the killing, but said it was not the first evidence of apparent atrocities by Russian forces.

Earlier, the Ukrainian military said they had identified a serviceman who was allegedly shot dead by “Russian occupiers,” according to a 12-second video posted on social media. The army hailed the soldier as a hero, saying that his death must be avenged.
