Boris Johnson nominated his father for an honorary title on his resignation list six months ago, according to British press reports.
According to the Times, Stanley Johnson was one of 100 candidates proposed by the former British Prime Minister for cabinet consideration.
Earlier it was reported that K. Johnson planned to knight his father. Shortly after the former prime minister stepped down in July, his spokesman said he was “not aware” of any such plans.
Johnson’s shortlist is said to be significantly longer than that of his predecessors, Theresa May and David Cameron, who nominated 60 and 62 respectively.
Nominations must be approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and then signed by the Prime Minister.
Any award to Stanley Johnson will raise questions about the former Conservative leader.
The former prime minister faced accusations of nepotism in 2020 when he nominated his brother Joe Johnson to the House of Lords.
In 2021, Conservative MP Caroline Noakes, as well as a journalist, publicly accused Stanley Johnson, a former MEP, of sexual harassment at Conservative Party conferences.
