Photos that appeared on social networks show that Russia has created a weapon that is difficult for even military analysts to understand.
“The most modern and most secret modernizations brought by the Russian military industry began to be used in the arms of the Russian troops in Ukraine. 25mm naval anti-aircraft turret 2M-3 of 1945 was genetically crossed with [blindat] MT-LB. In my humble opinion, he’s missing a roof,” says ironically Paul Javin, the Twitter account that has shared the most videos of fights in Ukraine in recent months.

Although it is not clear who is behind this version, the numerous videos he obtained, especially of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian positions, suggest that it would be the Kiev military, despite the Anglo-Saxon name.
In the photos that are now appearing on social networks, two such “hybrid” cars can be seen being transported by railway, and another one is in the yard of what seems to be a repair depot.
Including Oryx, a well-known site that tracks the equipment used and casualties on both sides of the war started by Vladimir Putin, questions what the role of such weapons would be.
What kind of DIY is this

Tendar, another Twitter account known for its many photos and videos of the war in Ukraine, notes that Russia has gone from claiming the second largest army in the world to “welding together naval guns for decades (developed in the 1940s) at the top.” MT-LB, as if it is an ISIS cell in the Syrian desert.”
“This more than speaks of the uncomfortable state that the Russian arms industry has reached,” he notes.

This speaks eloquently about the deplorable state the Russian arms industry has turned into. pic.twitter.com/W21Zdd9DLD

Russian army, “champion” in military improvisations
Emil Castehelmi, a military historian and OSINT analyst with nearly 60,000 Twitter followers, also notes that “it doesn’t even look like a prototype, it looks like someone is actually making them somewhere.”

A video also appeared on social networks, in which one of these machines is covered by the Russian army:

The website Defense Express comments that it will be extremely difficult for the Russian military to come up with a bigger surprise than this improvisation, although “it marked a completely new level of artisanal combat vehicles, from wooden armor to the use of a car. disks, parts of destroyed armored vehicles, tied with wire, nets and stones.”
The 2M-3 25mm naval guns were developed in the 1940s to be mounted on warships, dredges and landing craft. Instead, the armored MT-LB was developed in the 1950s.
