In a statement filed today with the prosecutor’s office in Rome, the lawyers of director David Grieco asked to reopen the case of the murder of the Italian writer, poet and director. Pier Paolo Pasolini.

The request for declassification calls for further investigation into the DNA found by the Carabinieri at the scene of the murder following new inquiries made in 2010.

Lawyers for the Italian director believe that the murder was not committed after a love affair with the then-young Pino Pelosi, who was the only one convicted in this case. They are convinced that there were at least three other people in the same place.

The statement, filed today, says that “it was, however, a death trap, and Pasolini died in an ambush after a barbaric beating.”
