Without “white smoke”, consultations of the alliance of six parties of the Turkish opposition ended today on the choice of a universally recognized candidate who will oppose Erdogan in the upcoming presidential elections.
Yesterday, on Wednesday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan put an end to scenarios for postponing elections due to earthquakes that hit southeast Turkey, confirming that presidential and parliamentary elections will take place on May 14.
Today’s meeting, organized by the head of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, who told reporters that the final decisions would be made at noon on Monday, March 6, lasted about six hours.
Among the potential opponents of Erdogan in the upcoming presidential elections, the names of Kemal Kilicdaroglu, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and Ankara Mayor Mansur Yavas stand out. All of them with CHP.
