In this regard, Vladimir Putin’s trip to the Russian Caucasus was canceled, Russian mass media reported, quoted on Thursday evening by the DPA and Agerpres news agencies.

The exact topic of the Security Council meeting is unknown, but there has been much speculation that Russia may formally declare war on Ukraine and order a new mobilization of hundreds of thousands of troops.

Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmytro Peskov stated that the meeting of the Security Council of Russia will take place on Friday, as planned, the Russian agency “Interfax” notes.

Asked by reporters whether a meeting of senior Defense Ministry officials could correct what Moscow continues to call a “special military operation,” Peskov replied: “I don’t know, I can’t say.”

Russia started the war against Ukraine with an unprovoked attack on February 24, 2022.

The classification of the Russian campaign in Ukraine as a war is a crime punishable in Russia by severe years of imprisonment.

Another result of the meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation may be the strengthening of restrictions on civil rights and steps towards war and a planned economy.

Putin accuses Ukraine of a “terrorist attack” on the territory of the Russian Federation

Also on Thursday, Putin accused Ukraine of terrorism after reports of fighting in the Bryansk region (southwestern Russia), which borders Ukraine.

It was “another act of terrorism and another crime,” the Russian president said during a video conference.

Previously, the FSB announced fierce battles with “Ukrainian nationalists” in Bryansk.

Kyiv rejected any responsibility for these incidents, calling Moscow’s accusations disinformation.

According to Russian sources, a driver and a ten-year-old child were injured in the Bryansk region as a result of the actions of Ukrainian saboteurs. The injured child was hospitalized, according to Russian sources.

“They entered the border zone, where they opened fire on the civilian population. They saw that it was a civilian car, that there were civilians and children in it, and they fired,” said the President of the Russian Federation.

Russian media also spread information about the alleged hostage-taking and shootout on a school bus, but then this information was denied even by Russian officials and rejected by the Ukrainian authorities, who noted that in the area of several distance education institutions practice on Mondays.

The administration in the Susana region (Russia) also denied that Ukrainian militants had taken several people hostage there, DPA reports.

Accusations of neo-Nazism again

Putin blamed the armed incident on the Kyiv leadership, which he again called “neo-Nazi”. This is in the conditions in which the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, is a Jew.

Putin also stated that Ukraine is trying to deprive Russia of its historical identity and language by force.

“But I repeat: they will not succeed, and we will crush them,” he said.

As for the alleged terrorist attacks, a group of Russian nationalists he claimed responsibility for them in the video recording. While some Russian nationalists support Putin’s war, others are fighting on the side of Kyiv, DPA notes. However, it is not clear whether the action in Bryansk was coordinated with the Ukrainian army, the cited news agency notes.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Russia has repeatedly complained about Ukrainian bombing on its territory. However, the number of victims and losses in Russia is incomparable to the consequences of its war in Ukraine, where many cities were destroyed and at least thousands of people died.
