Poland will cut its oil imports from Russia to almost zero between February and March, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said on Tuesday, as Warsaw continues to reduce its dependence on Russia due to the war in Ukraine.
Last March, Poland promised to stop using Russian oil by the end of 2022. At the time, the Polish company PKN Orlen had a long-term contract with Rosneft that expired at the end of 2022, and an agreement with Tatneft that expired in 2022. 2024 year.
“At the beginning of this year, imports from Russia fell to 10% … and in February-March, according to the information I receive from Orlen, it will be 0%, that is, a figure close to zero,” Moravetskyi said.
On Saturday, Poland’s PKN Orlen said Russia had stopped supplying oil to Poland through the Druzhba pipeline, but said it would turn to other sources to cover the shortfall.
