
President of Russia Vladimir Putin urged the FSB today (Federal Security Service) step up its activities to counter what he called the growing espionage and sabotage operations carried out against Russia by Ukraine and the West.
Speaking to representatives of the FSB, Putin said that the FSB must stop.sabotage groups» who enter Russia from Ukraineimprove the protection of critical infrastructure and prevent any attempts by Western intelligence to revive what he called terrorist or extremist cells on Russian soil.
“Western intelligence agencies have traditionally and constantly operated in Russia and have now thrown additional personnel, technicians and other resources at us. We must respond accordingly,” Putin said.
Putin has instructed the FSB to prevent the illegal flow of weapons into Russia and to tighten security in four regions of Ukraine that Moscow has partially seized and considers part of its territory, which most countries do not recognize.
