OUR Ukraine become a member NATO “In the long run,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said as Kyiv sought to join the Atlantic Alliance after invasion Russia.
“NATO countries agree that Ukraine should become a member of the Alliance, but at the same time this is a long-term perspective,” Jens Stoltenberg said during a visit to Finland, adding that a “framework” must be created to prevent any new invasions in the future.
Finland moving forward without Sweden
At the same time, it is noted that the final debate on the country’s accession to NATO began in the Finnish parliament even before Helsinki received the necessary approval from Turkey and Hungary.
With parliamentary elections due in Finland on April 2, Helsinki wants to avoid delays in NATO membership after Ankara and Budapest give the go-ahead.
This means that Finland is ready to move forward without waiting for Sweden, which has also been an Alliance candidate since last year but is currently facing a Turkish veto.
It is expected that 200 members of the Finnish Parliament will start discussions on the bill on the country’s membership in NATO tonight, and the vote will take place tomorrow Wednesday.
