The man survived 24 days at sea on ketchup – a gift from Heinz

Heinz is looking for a Caribbean man who he says lived 24 days on a sailboat at sea, eating ketchup.

Heinz is asking for help from his Instagram followers to find 47-year-old Elvis Francois, who gained international media attention in January with his survival story he shared. Heinz wants to help him buy a new boat.

“We need your help to find an amazing person with an amazing story. You may remember Elvis Francois as the brave sailor who survived only on ketchup and spices, drifting at sea for 24 days.

Well, Heinz wants to celebrate his safe return home and help him buy a new boat… but we can’t find him.

So we let this message drift sea The Internet, because if anyone can help us find him, it’s you. If you or someone you know can help us connect with Elvis François, please send us a message,” Heinz writes.

A man from the island of Dominica in the Caribbean said he survived 24 days lost at sea on a sailboat, eating ketchup. He was eventually rescued at sea off the coast of Colombia, according to the country’s coast guard.

“I didn’t have food. There was only one bottle of ketchup, garlic powder and maggi (bouillon cubes) on board. So I mixed them with some water to survive 24 days at sea,” Elvis Francois, 47, said in the video published by the Colombian Navy.

François wrote the word “help” on the hull of the boat when it was found 120 nautical miles northwest of Puerto Bolívar.

He described seeing other boats passing by and trying to signal them, even lighting a fire on board, to no avail.

“In recent days, around January 15, I saw a plane. I had a mirror. I made several signals,” he said.

“They crossed the boat twice, and so I knew they saw me. I am grateful that I am alive today because of them.”

After posting a map of Dominica, Heinz hit back, saying, “He’s around here somewhere, we just don’t know where.”
