First lady USAJill Biden will visit Namibia and Kenya this week “to strengthen the partnership” between Washington and African continent, the White House said.
The trip follows an Africa summit hosted in Washington in December, during which President Joe Biden advocated a broad cooperative relationship with the continent, in which China has invested heavily in recent years.
On her tour of Africa (February 22-26), Jill Biden will focus “on women and youth, on efforts to address food insecurity, and on advancing our common democratic values,” the White House said in a statement.
This is Jill Biden’s first visit to Namibia and third visit to Kenya. In this country, he will talk about the historic drought that hit the Horn of Africa and led to the famine of millions of people.
