Prime Minister of Italy Georgia Meloni met this afternoon in Kyiv with the President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky. Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of their talks, Meloni said that “Italy is fully supporting Ukraineand that “he’s not going to hesitate.”
“Italy will offer all possible support to create favorable conditions for negotiations, but until then it will continue to provide all types of military, economic and social support,” the head of the Italian government added.
However, he made it clear that “no military aircraft will be delivered to Ukraine at this stage” and that “this decision should be made jointly with other partners.”
At the same time, he stressed that it has been proven that the law of the strongest cannot prevail, and that Italy is making efforts to hold an international conference on the restoration of Ukraine, which could be held in April.
“Nothing should be decided without Ukraine – we should all agree with that – and that is why it is important that the initiative comes from President Zelensky,” concluded Georgia Meloni.
For his part, the Ukrainian president thanked Meloni for the visit and her attitude and, referring to the recent statements of Silvio Berlusconi, who stressed that “if he were prime minister, he would not have met with him”, emphasized: “no one bombed his house missiles, like the Russians, his fraternal friends. The tanks never made it to his garden, no one ever killed his relatives. His wife never went out for food, and no one was forced to pack up and run at three in the morning. All this thanks to brotherly love for Russia.
The head of the Italian government replied that she did not agree with this position, and recalled that “in the parliament of Rome, the ruling faction has always voted solidly,” since “the expressed opinions are one thing, and the decisions made are one.” another”.
